Seeing Inside The Stone
Inclusions are a record of how and where a gemstone grew. Mapping them in three dimensions lets us study that history and understand how internal features influence the way a rough crystal can be cut.
Scan data are combined with photomicrography so that each mapped feature can be tied to a magnified image of the inclusion itself.
